[fufu]
A staple dish of West Africa. In Nigeria, it’s made from pounded yams. [oreo] America’s Favorite Cookie. It’s black on the outside and white on the inside. fufu & oreos is a semi-autobiographical one-woman show that stages the journey of (sub)urban twenty-something artist Obehi Janice as she reflects on depression, identity, and faith while narrating and negotiating multiple identities: Black Female, Nigerian-American, and Christian. With inventive prose and incredible wit, fufu & oreos stakes a claim for the power of voice in our search for self. |
